I’m Going to be Evicted

It sounds more dramatic than it is, but I will be getting evicted from the house I’m at now.

We weren’t given much notice (it was just before Christmas), and this period is the most difficult to find anywhere new. For context, we’ve lived in the house we’re renting for four years, and we plan to move to the country in the next year. The owners of this house, who are abroad, plan to return and live in this house. So this is certainly not anything we’ve decided.

It brings a lot of stress and uncertainty in many respects.

Finding somewhere (and rental seems to be about 50% higher now than our current rates) is the beginning as the main concern is the logistics. Depending on where we find moving, everything we have is a significant mental and emotional impact. It’s often cited that moving house is one of the greatest life stresses.

I’ll certainly be using this opportunity to streamline as much as possible.

As mentioned, we plan on the moving country just. Unfortunately, we can’t yet.

The moving country will be another level, so this could be seen as the first stage. Deciding what to get rid of now to make things smoother, sort and tidy, and catalogue our possessions. Since this will be so disruptive, I want to take advantage and leverage it as much as I can in various areas.

Are there systems I can introduce to help, tools and services that will aid me in other areas?

Whether through choice or not, something is inevitable. It’s a chance to reframe it and maximise the benefits as much as possible.
