Zapier — pronounced “zap-ee er”

Zapier — This is an online automation tool that can link together hundreds of third-party services and tools.

It can use complex logic and even programming to achieve almost any automation you can think of. There are a variety of paid plans as well as free plan. The difference is in how many automations you can set up and how many times they can run per month. Free Plan limited to 5 automations (Zaps) and 100 tasks/month. Their target market is more towards prosumer and business.

Zaps — These are the automation recipes you can set up and the equivalent of what IFTTT call their Applets.

Tasks — A task here is running a Zap. So if you have 3 Zaps and each gets triggered 10 times in a month then that is a total of 30 tasks.

Explore — This is the automation gallery of zaps made by Zapier and the community. It’s much quicker to use an automation already created and amend it if needed.

Apps — These are the third-party services you can make use of and often require an account. As with IFTTT there are first-party services too, although it’s much more extensive in Zapier, with data manipulations, coding and various other things that are independent as apps.

Triggers — In Zapier they simply call them triggers for initiating the Zap automation.

Actions — The performing steps after the trigger are called actions. You can have multiple actions. Where we may want queries or additional conditional triggers (in the same way IFTTT Pro has) these too are also simply “Actions”.
